New Junior High School Planned

Recent FISD bond elections have provided funding for construction of  a new junior high school campus adjacent to West Ranch!  Construction is anticipated to begin in Summer 2008.

Anticipated opening 2010.

Friendswood High School Celebrates High SAT, ACT Scores

The median averages for college entrance exams were released recently to high schools in Texas.  The SAT and ACT scores along with profiles of test takers in the Class of 2007 by schools, by state and by nation were provided.In Friendswood ISD, SAT averages were among the top in the state.  The average composite score for FHS is 1119, four points higher than the previous 2006 score.

Average reading score for FHS was 544, the same as in 2006. The average math score was 575, up four points from 2006. Writing average was 547, up three points from 2006.

State reading average is 492 with math 507 and writing 482. State average is 999. Nationally, the average is 1017 with 502 in reading, 515 in math.

FHS' ACT average is 23.4. State average is 20.5 and national average is 21.2.

"We are proud of our averages and are setting our goals to continue to increase in this area. The majority of our seniors take the SAT, many during their junior year. We encourage all of our students to take the test.  We are pleased with this year's average for such a large amount of test takers," Superintendent Trish Hanks said.
